The town of Saumur , is called the jewel of the Loire and it is easy to see why, with it's buildings being built of the white stone tufo it really does glisten in the mid day sun. The town has lots of squares and narrow alleys to discover, where you can browse the many shops and boutiques or choose to eat at one of the many bars and restaurants.

The chateau is perched on top of the hill over looking the valley of Saumur and the town its self. It can be seen from many miles away and looks magnificent in its splendure. The chateaux dates back to 1300 and has been lovingly restored.   

There is so much to see and do around   la-noue . It is impossible to put it on one page. But here Goes: 

There are two chateaux very close by . Giseaux and Brie . both open for visitors.

There is a choice of two lake complexes, both within 6 miles .both with swimming lakes and life guards.and water activities. play areas and cafes.

Visit one of the many wine yards around the loire. From small to the world famouse Gration Meyer & Ackermans. Guided tours in English.

We mentioned our two local chateaux but within the loire there are many other huge chateaux to visit . the loire was  the central power of its kings and has many fine chateaux. belonging to royalty. and nobles. Even cardinal richelau's chateau is near by with its many underground rooms.

The Stuning Fontevrau Abbey which is the resting place of Richard the lion heart  and Henry the 2nd

The town of Chinon once the capital of Medival france with the Chateau standing over looking the town has links to Joan of Arc and the kings of France

The cities of Tours And Angers are both within one hour drive of la-noue. Or drive to just one of the loires many unspoilt villages like Candes saint Martin renown as one of the prettiest villages in France.

Visit one of the many Trogladite villages which was home to many French people

Canoe  down the Loire with one of its many canoe trips Full day or half day

Enjoy the splender of the loire valley from walks in the woods or cycling down the loire cycle path.
